iPod devices run an operating system (called iOS) much like a computer does. As with computers, the iPod operating system will occasionally have updates made available, that will:
- Deliver new features / enhancements to the device; and
- Incorporate the latest security / bug fixes.
It's a good idea to keep up to date with the latest updates to the iPod's operating system. To give you a hand with this, Apple have released some guides on what keeping the operating system up to date involves:
